Damian “DJ” Johnson back for Pioneers
The Castec Rural Supplies Mount Gambier Pioneers are excited to announce that their very talented and underrated import from 2014 Damian “DJ” Johnson has committed to return to the championship team.
Damian will once again bring his family from Minneapolis to Mount Gambier where he has become a very popular member off the Pioneers and the basketball community. Damian was a huge part of the Pioneers success averaging 14.4 ppg and 8.9 rebounds per game and concluding the season with an outstanding 20 point 11 rebound game in the SEABL final.
“Damian is extremely unselfish, a great defender and a great team mate” “ Second in the league in blocks per game and third in steals DJ was the cornerstone off our defence and very unlucky not to be named SEABL defensive player of the year” coach Richard Hill said.
Damian returning, together with the signings of Erik Burdon, Matt Sutton and more recently Tom Daly is a very encouraging for the Pioneers as they prepare for the challenge of going back to back.
“Having Damian return together with our other signings helps us work towards being a better team in 2014, an absolute must if we have any plans to repeat” Coach Hill concluded.
